Lifeskills’ partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive level of care most often used as a step-down from residential treatment. PHP runs five days a week during daytime hours, providing highly structured, evidence-based treatment while allowing clients to return to supportive housing or home each evening. This flexibility allows PHP clients to apply clinical skills in real-world settings while maintaining the structure and support of intensive treatment.

PHP offers the clinical depth of residential care with the flexibility of an outpatient schedule, making it an effective option for adults who need intensive treatment but do not require 24/7 residential support.
What conditions are treated in a partial hospitalization program?
Lifeskills PHP treats adults with a wide range of mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and co-occurring diagnoses. This includes major depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma, thought disorders, personality disorders, and co-occurring substance use disorders. Treatment is individualized and may include group therapy, individual therapy, psychiatric care, medication management, and specialty programming tailored to each client’s clinical needs.
What happens after completing a partial hospitalization program?
After completing PHP, most clients transition to a lower level of care to maintain clinical progress and support ongoing stability. At Lifeskills, this typically means stepping down to an intensive outpatient program (IOP) with transitional living, depending on each client’s clinical needs and living situation. Lifeskills’ admissions and clinical teams work collaboratively to ensure a well-supported transition at every stage of the continuum of care.
