Family Support Program
Supporting a loved one through mental health or substance use treatment is demanding — Lifeskills’ Family Support Program is here to help.
How the Family Support Program Works
At Lifeskills, we view the family as an interconnected system where each member’s mental health affects the others. When a mental health condition or substance use disorder is present, it can disrupt family dynamics and make it difficult to break harmful patterns — even after treatment begins. That is where the Family Support Program becomes essential.
From the moment of admission, we guide families through the treatment process, helping them address unresolved pain and build healthier patterns of communication and connection. Through weekly sessions, virtual groups, a residential weekend program, and targeted family restructuring, we support understanding, growth, and lasting change.

Key Interventions
Our licensed family therapists develop individualized approaches for each family, providing expert clinical support throughout the treatment process, including:
- In-depth family assessments to identify patterns of dysfunction and resilience
- Communication skills training
- Guided work to shift from enmeshment to a healthy emotional connection
- Structured boundary-setting practices
- Facilitated family sessions addressing confrontation, crisis management, and conflict resolution
- Reintegration support and discharge planning guidance

“At Lifeskills, our family program focuses on treating the whole person, not just the addiction or mental health concern. Through family counseling, education, and training, we help families understand their loved one’s recovery journey and strengthen the connection between the clients and their loved ones, supporting lasting healing.”
